Tottenham could move for 24 y/o forward despite already signing Werner

Journalist Graeme Bailey has suggested that Tottenham are candidates to sign an "exciting" 24-year-old forward despite already bringing in Timo Werner.

Spurs sign Werner and chase Antonio Nusa

The north Londoners could make multiple new additions in the attacking areas this month, and have already sealed a loan deal for Werner.

The former Chelsea star, who's temporary move includes an option to make it permanent later this year, made his debut in Tottenham's 2-2 draw against Man United 11 days ago. Werner adds both versatility and extra quality to Ange Postecoglou's final third, and the Lilywhites will be hoping he can replicate the kind of form which saw Chelsea once spend £47.5 million on his capture.

Meanwhile, another forward who Tottenham are widely believed to be chasing is Club Brugge sensation Antonio Nusa.

The north Londoners opened talks to sign Nusa in a buy-to-loan-back deal last week, with the plan being to secure his signature and send him back to Belgium for the rest of 2023/2024. After these developments, it is now believed Spurs could still add another option further up the field, as journalist Graeme Bailey suggests in a report for HITC.

Tottenham could still sign Jota despite agreeing Werner deal

Indeed, as per his information, Spurs could yet to be contenders to end Jota's nightmare spell at Al-Ittihad.

The 24-year-old is apparently keen to leave Saudi Arabia, and has not even been registered in Al-Ittihad's domestic squad for the rest of the season.

Celtic's former forward Jota.

Despite already bringing in Werner, Bailey hints that Tottenham could still be interested in signing Jota. It is believed Postecoglou is a big admirer of the Portuguese, who dazzled under his tutelage when the pair worked together at Celtic.

West Ham, Everton, Brighton and Newcastle United are named as other suitors for the winger, who former Spurs right-back Alan Hutton also holds in very high esteem.

"He's (Jota) probably only going to get better, I think he can get better," said the Scotsman to Football Insider. "What he's done this season has been incredible, for him to come from his parent club, where he's not really been playing. Benfica are a big club in their own right but to come to another club where there's a lot of pressure, to perform at such a young age, he's stood up to that task.

“Jota's that player fans want to see. He's exciting, he takes people on, he makes things happen, he scores goals and ticks all the boxes."

The forward bagged 11 goals and 11 assists during his final season at Parkhead, before eventually making the move to Saudi.

Arsenal could forget Luiz by signing £85m "generational talent"

Arsenal returned to Premier League action with a bang over the weekend, putting five past a hapless Crystal Palace side to try and quieten any talk of crisis slowly festering during the winter break.

While Mikel Arteta would have been delighted with what he saw from his side, taking off a visibly uncomfortable Declan Rice in the second half would have been a real worry for the Spaniard.

Luckily, the Englishman seems okay, but his substitution exposed a weakness in the Gunners' midfield, which they have been trying to address for over a year.

Tottenham's Oliver Skipp

One of the players that has been touted for a move to N5 has been Douglas Luiz, but with Aston Villa's reluctance to sell, the north Londoners might be better served signing the latest midfielder linked to the Emirates.

Arteta looks for a Galactico

According to a report from Spain earlier this week, Arsenal are 'very interested' in Real Madrid's incredibly talented young midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and are prepared to 'fight' for him in the transfer market.

The report has also revealed that, alongside the Gunners, Liverpool are also keen on the French maestro and are prepared to go toe-to-toe with the north Londoners to secure the player's signature this year.

The bad news for the sides is that if a move is sanctioned, it is expected to cost in excess of €100m – £85m – and that even if a team can stump up this kind of cash, Florentino Perez does not want to sell the 21-year-old.

That said, the report does mention that while Los Blancos have faith in their young star, there is 'cause for concern' that he could leave, following in the footsteps of previous Real icons like Raphael Varane and Casemiro.

How Eduardo Camavinga compares to Douglas Luiz

Now, signing either Luiz or Camavinga would make Arsenal a more formidable prospect; of that, there can be no doubt, but there are a couple of reasons why the former Rennes gem would make for more intelligent business.

The first thing to note is that if the reports about Real demanding offers in excess of £85m are accurate, then signing the potentially less glamorous Villa dynamo would be no cheaper as Football Insider revealed last week that it would take at least £100m to secure the Brazilian's services this month.

That said, the first thing Real's "generational talent", as described by talent scout Jacek Kulig, has over his competition is big game experience. Despite being just 21 years old, the French international has played on the biggest stages in world football, from starting a group game in the 2022 World Cup to coming on in the final.

Moreover, he has also been there and done it for Los Blancos, making ten Champions League appearances for the side – including in the final – when they lifted the trophy in the 2021/22 season.

It was in the club's miraculous comeback against Chelsea, in which they scored a goal in extra time to secure passage into the semi-finals, that sports broadcaster and content creator Nubaid Haroon described the young Frenchman as someone who "plays with a cigar in his mouth" due to how unphased he was by the magnitude of the game.

The second reason for signing Camavinga over Luiz is the pair's underlying numbers.

While the two players are relatively evenly matched in a lot of areas, such as goal and shot-creating actions, and Luiz even clears the Frenchman in things like non-penalty expected goals and assists, when it comes to the defensive metrics – the most important statistics for a number six – there is no competition.

The Real sensation trounces Luiz for tackles won, blocks, interceptions, clearances and ball recoveries, and at just 21 years old, there is no telling just how dominant he could become at the base of midfield.

Ultimately, if Arsenal want to bolster their defensive midfield and make sure that come rain or shine, it is an area of the pitch they have locked down, then signing a player the calibre of Camavinga is a no-brainer.

Jude Bellingham: The boy from Birmingham who turned England from dreamers to Euro 2024 believers

The midfielder has conquered Real Madrid in a dream debut season, and all that's left for him now is to lead the Three Lions to glory in Germany

"Greed is good," said Gordon Gekko in the 1987 financial drama . "Greed is right, greed works, greed clarifies, cuts through and captures the essence of evolutionary spirit."

The film was released 16 years before Jude Bellingham was even born, but the Real Madrid midfielder has taken the key message of the fictionalised financial mastermind on board. The week before the Champions League final, he admitted he had not been surprised by how his incredible debut season in the Spanish capital had gone.

"I came here because I wanted to win, and to expect it, it's a bit greedy almost, but you have to be confident when you're playing with so many great players," Bellingham told reporters. Asked what the next step would be if he went on to lift the Champions League at Wembley, Bellingham did not hesitate: "Hopefully the European Championship," he said. "I just talked about being greedy…"

Bellingham duly won the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund, setting up the crucial second goal for Vinicius Jr on the way to victory before asking Jose Mourinho if he could pose for a photo with his mum during the post-match celebrations. He has since enjoyed a week off to relax, but now it's time for that next step, and for Bellingham to embrace his inner Gordon Gekko and win yet another major competition, this time with his country.

    Third time lucky

Euro 2024 will be Bellingham's third major tournament, another remarkable achievement for a player who is still 20 and is due to celebrate his birthday on the weekend England will expect to be playing their first knockout match.

At the rescheduled Euro 2020, he was mainly feeling his way through, playing 55 minutes in total across three appearances as a substitute. Eighteen months later, at the 2022 World Cup, he consolidated his status as an England regular, starting all five games in Qatar and scoring his first international goal against Iran, as he had promised to in his pre-match interview.

Bellingham now heads to Germany as the team's star, not the captain but the leader in every other sense. The fact he can boast the Spanish title and Champions League further enhances his status, which was already verging on the regal for the feats he had achieved throughout his first season with Madrid.

    Wasting no time

Bellingham turned up to the most prestigious club in the world and played like he owned it. He scored more goals in his first 15 games for Madrid than any player in the club's history, even all-time top scorers Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul and Alfredo di Stefano.

He scored goals of all types, from simple headers against Almeria and Celta Vigo, to his outside-the-box sizzler at Barcelona and his Diego Maradona-esque goal against Napoli, in the stadium named after the great Argentine.

Madrid fans and pundits have compared him to a vast number of players, none of whom had much in common with each other. He has the build and aura of Zinedine Zidane, the defensive awareness of Claude Makelele, the confidence of Ronaldo, and the work-rate of Clarence Seedorf.

Bellingham enraptured Real Madrid from day one, and even his official unveiling, which tend to be dull and scripted affairs, left onlookers impressed. He demonstrated his interest in Los Blancos and the club's history, and showed a desire to assimilate to the culture too, something previous exports Gareth Bale and Michael Owen never did.

He showed a deference to Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, vowing to learn from them. He was even aware of the local journalists, telling Sid Lowe of he was "a big fan".

    'Gift for football'

Carlo Ancelotti summed up Bellingham's aura after Madrid had beaten Napoli 4-2 in the Champions League in November, when he said the midfielder was "a gift for football".

"The coach, his team-mates and the fans are delighted with him, but so is the whole football world," added the avuncular Italian. "They are delighted to see a player with this potential, giving such a positive image."

The Italian is not wrong. When Gary Lineker, Micah Richards and Alan Shearer were discussing England's chances at the Euros on , the expression of all three seasoned pundits and former players changed and their sense of awe in the 20-year-old was tangible. The mere mention of Bellingham's name prompted Richards to bow his head and say "Oh my word", with Shearer quickly adding: "What a season."

Their sense of excitement was even more pronounced as they know Bellingham is the player that could prove the difference for the Three Lions in Germany and end the nation's 58-year trophy drought.

"A lot of people feel he’s the kind of player who's got so much about him, who can drag you through, because to win something, somebody's got to make it happen, he might be that sort of player," said Lineker. "He's got everything, he's got skills, he's got vision, he's got stature, he's got presence."

Shearer added: "He has this arrogance in a good way, you can see him standing tall, he has that about him, that's a brilliant thing."

    Shades of Zidane

Ancelotti has called Bellingham "the ideal player for today’s football" due to his combination of physical and technical qualities. And as the only coach to have had the honour of working with Bellingham and Zidane, he is uniquely placed to compare and contrast their attributes.

"What I think is different is his ability to arrive in the area, which Zidane did not have. Zidane had individual quality that Bellingham doesn't have,” Ancelotti said. “That's the main difference, but this is modern football, which requires physically strong players like Bellingham who are capable of covering the whole pitch very quickly."

Even though the Frenchman had retired by the time he had started watching football, Bellingham had a fascination with Zidane. Upon arriving at Madrid, he asked if he could take the No.5 shirt, which Zidane graced as a Blancos player, from defender Jesus Vallejo, who willingly obliged.

The number that Bellingham really wanted, however, belonged to Antonio Rudiger, although the German was not willing to give it up.

    THE BIGGER PICTURE

Despite the Turkish club's optimism, Manchester United have not budged on their valuation of Wan-Bissaka. The Premier League side is holding out for a fee exceeding €20 million, a sum that could pose a challenge for Galatasaray. The club exercised a one-year extension option in January, keeping him under contract until June 2025, which gives them the edge in negotiations.

  • DID YOU KNOW?

Should the deal for Wan-Bissaka fall through, Galatasaray have lined up potential alternatives. French defenders Lorenz Assignon and Nordi Mukiele are considered viable options to strengthen their right-back position. However, Wan-Bissaka remains the top target due to his proven experience in the Premier League and his defensive capabilities.

Rangers struck gold on free transfer who’s now become a "cult hero"

Glasgow Rangers displayed signs of true grit and determination as they defeated Aberdeen in the Premiership on Tuesday evening.

With the scores tied at 1-1 with just 20 minutes left, the Ibrox faithful were beginning to get uneasy and under previous managers, the Gers would have failed to strike the killer blow.

Philippe Clement is no ordinary manager, however, and the team spirit among the squad was evident as Todd Cantwell netted a rebounded shot past the Dons keeper, and they eventually saw out a vital 2-1 victory.

Every member of the first team knows exactly what is required to succeed this season and the momentum is clearly building ahead of what could be a hectic few months.

Glasgow Rangers managerPhilippe Clement.

It is remarkable that this is the same group of players who lost three of their opening seven league ties and sat seven points adrift of Celtic, with hopes of a title chase all but finished.

The senior professionals have led the way to this revival and the performances of John Lundstram have been crucial to this turnaround, and it is clear the Light Blues have hit the jackpot on the midfielder.

How much John Lundstram was worth at Sheffield United

The Liverpool-born player enjoyed perhaps the most successful stint of his pre-Rangers career at Sheffield United, making 120 appearances for the club during a four-season spell.

John Lundstram

It was his performances for the Blades during their return to the Premier League following a 12-year absence that really began to attract potential suitors.

Throughout that 2019/20 campaign, Lundstram ranked second among his teammates at Bramall Lane for goals and assists (eight) in the top flight, along with ranking second for big chances created (eight), eighth for tackles (1.4) and sixth for interceptions (one) per game, showcasing a multitude of talents as he helped the Blades secure a stunning ninth place finish.

The club suffered second season syndrome and were relegated back to the Championship, yet Lundstram was valued at €8.5m (£7.2m) according to Football Transfers heading into his final six months of his stay with the club, establishing himself as one of their prized assets.

How much Rangers signed John Lundstram for

The former Everton youngster joined the Gers on a free transfer during the summer of 2021 as he let his contract at Sheffield United expire, and it looked like quite the coup for the Light Blues.

"John is a player I have known for some time and knew he would enhance our squad.” Beamed Steven Gerrard upon announcing Lundstram as a Rangers player as he looked to take the club to the next level.

Rangers'JohnLundstramduring training.

While his market value may not have reached the levels that he hit during his spell in the Premier League, Lundstram still has a decent valuation, especially for someone who did not cost the Ibrox side a penny nearly three years ago.

John Lundstram’s market value now

At the time of writing, the Englishman is currently valued at €2.8m (£2.4m) according to Football Transfers and, given he is about to turn 30 this month, it is a solid valuation.

The 29-year-old has entered into the final few months of his contract at the Gers, and it remains to be seen whether Clement will offer him an extended deal.

Judging by his performances since the former Club Brugge boss arrived last October, it makes perfect sense to give him another two years at the club, as he has emerged as one of the first names on the team sheet this season.

Why John Lundstram is worth that much

Lundstram has enjoyed plenty of peaks and troughs since arriving through the Ibrox doors in 2021, just months after the club had secured their 55th league title.

His first few months were not easy as he struggled to cope with the physical nature of Scottish football, but it was on the continent where he enjoyed his best performances, particularly in the run to the Europa League final in 2022.

The former Blades gem scored against Borussia Dortmund in the first leg of the knockout playoff round to put the Light Blues three goals up in what was arguably their finest European performance in years.

If this didn’t endear him to the supporters, then stroking home a winner in the 80th minute against RB Leipzig in the second leg of the semi-final to ensure the Gers secured their place in their first European final in 14 years did, and Lundstram was a rock throughout the competition.

Indeed, even former Gers icon Ally McCoist lauded him prior to the final in Seville, dubbing him a “cult hero” and while he couldn’t inspire the Glasgow side to victory against Eintracht Frankfurt, his stock had risen considerably.

Last season saw the midfielder score five league goals for Rangers, yet his performances dipped off as they went trophyless for the first time since 2020.

The 5 foot 11 maestro has rebounded under Clement and, since October, he has missed just one match across all competitions, showing an impressive degree of consistency that has enabled the Ibrox side to go on a wonderful run of just one defeat in his opening 24 matches.

Lundstram is currently the highest-ranked midfielder in the squad for accurate passes per game in the top flight (63.6), while also ranking third for big chances created (three), second for accurate long balls per game (5.4) and third for tackles per game (1.7), demonstrating his skills across both defensive and attacking metrics.

With the Light Blues very much in a title race now thanks to clawing back the deficit to Celtic, Lundstram has been the glue which has held the midfield together, and he should be offered an extension to his current deal.

Rangers midfielder John Lundstram.

The club have clearly struck gold on the former Premier League dynamo and while he has endured some tough parts in his spell in Scotland, they have clearly allowed him to come back and reinvigorate his performances and this has been on show over the previous few months.

He may be approaching 30, but Lundstram can still offer something to this Rangers side for the next year or two, absolutely no doubt about that.

Everton receive Chelsea’s Amadou Onana bid as talks begin over summer deal

A "tireless" Everton player will leave Goodison Park this summer, claims a report in his homeland, with a huge club apparently already starting the bidding for his services.

Everton set for summer sales amid FFP crisis

The Blues' struggles this season have been well-documented, with a 10-point deduction in the Premier League proving costly and leaving them languishing in the relegation zone.

There is now a genuine threat of Everton heading to the Championship for the first time, having survived late in the day in the past two seasons, and that would likely lead to an exodus at Goodison, due to their need to align with the league's Profit and Sustainability guidelines.

Jarrad Branthwaite has been a hugely impressive performer throughout the 2023/24 campaign, and he is being eyed up by Manchester United, who reportedly see him as a strong option to bolster their back-line for years to come.

Midfielder Amadou Onana is also a player Everton would find it extremely difficult to keep hold of, and a recent report has claimed that Newcastle United are in pole position to seal a big-money move for him.

There are others who could depart in the summer, too, with England's No.1 Jordan Pickford not wanting to be in the second tier, and the same applying to the likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Chelsea in talks to sign Amadou Onana

According to Voetbalkrant, Chelsea have entered negotiations for Everton star Onana ahead of a summer move to the club, with Kevin Thelwell and Co already receiving the first bid, which is thought to be below the asking price.

The Merseysiders will demand a fee of €60m (£51m) for the 22-year-old's signature, and the report also states that one bid has already been rejected, Onana "will" leave Merseyside this year. Even if Everton do retain their place in the Premier League then, there does seem to be an inevitability about Onana moving on for a new challenge in the summer transfer window.

In truth, it would be hard to begrudge Onana a move to one of the world's biggest clubs, should they meet Everton's price tag – their financial situation means it could benefit them in the long run – and given his age, it is easy to envisage him growing into an even more formidable player over time.

Wow: Journalist drops huge Newcastle claim surrounding St James’ Park

Newcastle United are planning a huge off-field development in the near future, according to a big update from reliable journalist Luke Edwards.

PIF's timeline at Newcastle

This has been an exciting era at St James' Park, with the ownership of the PIF making them more financially secure since arriving in late 2021, bringing a far more positive period to the club after the doomed reign of Mike Ashley.

Newcastle's Saudi bosses have overseen Champions League qualification under Eddie Howe, allowing some top-quality signings to be made, from Bruno Guimaraes to Alexander Isak, and the hope that this is only the beginning, with this season hopefully just a slight backward step.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe.

The PIF will not only want to improve the Magpies in terms of personnel and success on the pitch, but they will also intend to make the entire club more formidable as a whole, ensuring they become one of Europe's true footballing powerhouses over time, as Manchester City have done since enjoying similar riches of their own.

A new update suggests that they have huge plans regarding a major aspect of Newcastle, in what represents significant news for Magpies supporters.

Newcastle ponder huge stadium change

Away from the transfer talk, however, a major development looks set to take place at St James' Park, with Edwards taking to X to say that the Magpies will explore rebuilding a new stadium on the current site: "A new stadium is coming for Newcastle United and it could be the real Wembley of the North."

Edwards goes into a little more depth in his article for The Telegraph, explaining that "Newcastle United want to remain at St James’ Park and expand the site as a feasibility study into the proposed redevelopment continues to consider viable options."

St James' Park

This is massive news for anyone of a Newcastle persuasion, and an update that could prove to be divisive among the fanbase, considering how iconic St James' Park is.

It is a stadium renowned for its incredible atmosphere and has been a huge part of the city centre for many, many years, so deciding to knock it down and start again comes with a risk. Some fans will be upset to see it be rebuilt, not wanting to see the club lose some of its heart, but others will see the need for a shiny new home in order to compete with other clubs.

In truth, there is a middle ground that exists where Newcastle will hopefully be able to simply expand the stadium, though it is clear that this is not an immediate possibility, nor a simple solution.

Tottenham should be looked at as a perfect example to take inspiration from for Newcastle, with the north Londoners knocking down White Hart Lane and building the remarkable Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which feels more special and atmospheric than their old home, showing that it can be done.

They are one of a number of clubs to have moved home in recent times, with Arsenal, Brentford, Brighton, Manchester City and West Ham all switching their home ground since the turn of the century – and Everton are set to follow in their footsteps.

Uh oh: European paper drops news on McKenna possibly leaving Ipswich

As things stand, Ipswich Town are on course to secure sensational back-to-back promotions to reach the Premier League under Kieran McKenna. But that success could come at the ultimate cost with a European club now eyeing a move for their impressive manager.

Kieran McKenna's Ipswich future

It's no surprise that McKenna has been linked with a move away. A manager of his calibre, who has transformed Ipswich, is destined for the top. It just seems a matter of when and not if he'll become a top-flight manager, whether that is with Ipswich or elsewhere in years to come.

Crystal Palace were, of course, reportedly interested in securing his signature to replace Roy Hodgson earlier this year, before eventually turning to former Eintracht Frankfurt boss Oliver Glasner. McKenna remained at Portman Road and now looks set to finish the Championship promotion job that he started.

Amid any potential celebrations, however, clubs will undoubtedly begin to circle once more as the manager is left weighing up his options yet again. Among the clubs that could circle is VfB Stuttgart, who have enjoyed an excellent Bundesliga campaign so far this season. But, like Ipswich, Stuttgart's success could come at a managerial cost, with Sebastian Hoeness already linked with the Bayern Munich job.

Sebastian Hoeness for Stuttgart.

Now, according to Sport Bild via Sport Witness, Director of Football Fabian Wohlgemuth and Stuttgart have placed McKenna on their shortlist of options to replace Hoeness should they need to this summer. Given that Hoeness has taken the Bundesliga club from 16th all the way up to third this season and just four points adrift of Bayern Munich, he would be some act to follow. But McKenna has more than proven his credentials at Portman Road.

In a summer of mass managerial change, McKenna could complete a shock switch to deal Ipswich a major blow.

Ipswich can't afford to lose McKenna

It almost goes without saying just how vital it is that Ipswich keep hold of McKenna for as long as possible. He has been the key to their recent rise and he is the one who is most likely to unlock the Premier League doors sooner rather than later. If Ipswich do fail in their bid for promotion, however, then luring McKenna away should be far easier, given his own ambitions of managing at the best level.

Stuttgart are an ideal next choice too. Whilst on paper, they may seem an unorthodox choice, Stuttgart's rise isn't dissimilar to that of Ipswich's, who also went from a struggling side to one of their division's best teams under the guidance of a young manager. Now, McKenna is perfectly placed to pick up where Hoeness potentially leaves off this summer, should Stuttgart need to make their move.

What's more, the Ipswich Town manager's preferred system also uses a 4-2-3-1 like Honess' does in another concerning similarity for those at Portman Road hoping to keep the man who has already achieved so much at the club. As things stand, McKenna's future is at Ipswich, but if Stuttgart are in need ot a new manager this summer, then the promotion hopefuls will have every right to be concerned.
