Lucas melts Spurs fans’ hearts with adorable moment

[ad_pod ]

Lucas Moura scored a hat-trick for Tottenham Hotspur in their 4-0 thumping of Huddersfield Town on Saturday and then melted Spurs fans’ hearts afterwards.

The Brazil international netted the final three goals of the game as Mauricio Pochettino’s men put the already-relegated Terriers to the sword.

His treble was Lucas’ first ever hat-trick in European football and he celebrated in perhaps the best way possible.

Having capped his treble in injury time, after a fine through ball from Son Heung-Min, Lucas waited for his family to greet him on the pitch.

His wife and son rushed down to meet him and the hat-trick hero took his boy in his arms before enjoying a kickabout with the toddler on the pitch, with the match ball.

And Spurs fans were swept away by the show of familial love at the end of the game.

Pundit View: De Boer says Rangers do not need immediate success

[ad_pod ]

Ronald de Boer has given a rather bizarre outlook on Rangers’ revamp, claiming the Gers do not need to be in a rush for silverware.

Rangers will almost certainly end this season with no trophies, as Steven Gerrard has endured an up and down debut campaign in senior management.

The Old Firm win in December and enjoyable run through the Europa League qualification stages will no doubt be looked back on as the highs of the campaign, while the recent defeat to Celtic and poor run of form that basically decided the title in March are definitely low points.

De Boer though, has claimed that titles shouldn’t be the only thing on the club’s mind, urging the Gers and Gerrard to focus on one thing – developing youth players.

Check out the video below to see how Brazil fans reacted to being asked how Cristiano Ronaldo would perform for them in a hilarious prank by Pl>ymaker FC…

What has he said?

“I am in favour of giving the kids time,” he said, as reported by The Evening Times.

“Rangers shouldn’t think they have to challenge Celtic right away. At the end of the day, when you bring through your own players your club will be so healthy. It is also great for the fans to have local boys in their team. That is something special.

“If you put a lot of money into the youth system like we do at Ajax then in the end you will get the results. When that is working properly, when you have good youth coaches, then you will always be a very healthy club.

“I think Rangers should look to do it more and not just focus on signing players for the first team. It always starts with the foundation and the pillars of success are the youth.”

Verdict

De Boer joined Rangers in 2000, linking up with a number of Dutch talents at Ibrox including Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Fernando Ricksen. He spent four years with the club, winning a league title and three domestic cups.

Therefore, he should fully understand the immense pressure that comes with wearing the famous blue, but it appears he doesn’t.

While he may be correct to point out that the likes of Ross McCrorie and Glenn Middleton need more playing time with the first team, he is dead wrong about the need for silverware.

Celtic’s squad is ageing and the Bhoys are in need of a bit of a revamp over the next couple of transfer windows. The Gers will never have a better opportunity to seize back the crown of Scottish football, and putting success lower down on the priority list is just not what this club does.

De Boer’s comments aren’t stupid by any means by they are misguided and perhaps a little naive. Sorry Ronald.

Liverpool: Reds have had title hopes damaged by Chelsea before, now to make amends

That moment in 2014 will forever be burnt into the retinas of every Liverpool fan who witnessed it.

Steven Gerrard’s slip, Demba Ba’s goal, the beginning of the end for Brendan Rodgers’ title hopes. It’s something that is still sung about today at games and is one of the most iconic moments in Premier League history.

Five years later, and we’re back in a similar situation. Chelsea will travel to Liverpool who are hot on the tail of Manchester City, and for Jurgen Klopp, he has a duty to bury the sins of the past and end the torment the club have endured because of that fateful day.

But going into Sunday’s game, the two teams couldn’t be any more different from five years ago. The Blues head to Anfield not chasing for the title, but looking to get into the top four, something fans did not expect going into this season, whereas Liverpool have the chance to keep the pressure on City in one of the tightest title races in years with arguably their best team in the history of the Premier League era.

Liverpool have also shown this season that they can take on the big teams at home and get results, beating the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal and holding on against Manchester City, but in games against Chelsea this season, the Reds have been underwhelming.

An Eden Hazard masterclass knocked the Merseyside club out of the League Cup early in the season and a Daniel Sturridge is what it took for Liverpool to rescue a point against Chelsea at the fixture at Stamford Bridge.

The Reds have what it takes to easily beat Chelsea this weekend, with the west London side under more pressure from fans to perform and get the results they need to get back into the Champions League, and Klopp’s side know that if they stick to their game plan, they will be able to bury their demons and move on with their best shot of winning the Premier League title in years.

Liverpool fans, will the Reds beat Chelsea this weekend? Let us know!

Arsenal: If Gunners claim top-four, Watford win will be seen as the catalyst

It was a result Arsenal needed, and it was a result that can have a positive domino effect for the Gunners.

Last night’s 1-0 win away to Watford was a turning point for Arsenal’s season. It was the club’s first clean sheet on the road all season and was a victory not many fans expected to go into the match before kick-off, but the Gunners pulled it off, and in doing might have set up a chain of events for the team.

The weight and importance of winning away from home and getting a clean sheet has already been massive for Arsenal, injecting new confidence for the team as they head into their final few league games of the season with the belief that now they can genuinely achieve a top-four finish as well as find success in Europe.

Thursday’s game against Napoli will be another major test for Arsenal, but if Unai Emery can guide his side to a result over Carlo Ancelotti’s team in Italy, it will yet again add to the claim that the win over Watford has set in motion a chain of events leading to success for the Gunners.

Arsenal now have their destiny for this season in their hands, and with the win against Watford likely to motivate the team to go further this season, fans and players can look back at that win against their London rivals as the result that changed their fortunes for the better.

Spurs fans react to spooky omen

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur fans have reacted to a set of spooky omens that appear to point towards the club winning the Champions League.

Spurs, of course, face Manchester City later this week in a game that will decide whether or not the club reach their first Champions League semi-final in a generation.

Son Heung-Min’s first-leg strike has given the club a 1-0 lead to protect at the Etihad Stadium, meaning a clean sheet would see them through.

And Twitter user @Treverlloyd92 has pointed out some landmarks that seem to show that the club is destined to progress even deeper into the competition.

Indeed, on Sunday evening, world-class golfer Tiger Woods completed one of the greatest comebacks in sporting history to win The Masters, his first major victory since 2008. Spurs last won a trophy in that year, beating Chelsea in the League Cup final.

And he has also pointed out that Watford have reached the FA Cup final for the first time since 1984, the last time that Spurs won a European trophy.

It could merely be coincidence but it has not stopped Spurs fans getting excited on Twitter.

Leyton Orient: O’s return to the Football League is a football fairytale

As the final whistle blew and the fans ran onto the pitch, Justin Edinburgh knew he had just accomplished something great.

After two years down in the National League, the O’s are heading back to the Football League after sealing the title on the final day of the season after results went their way, and Orient’s return to the Football League is a true football fairytale.

It’s easy to forget in just how bad a position Orient were in when they were relegated from League Two in 2017. Players and staff had been unpaid for weeks in a season where the O’s had five different managers, and their game against Colchester United was delayed due to fans invading the pitch and protesting in front of the infamous former owners.

To go from that situation to being able to rebuild in just two years and win promotion back to the Football League with owners who are willing to invest in the club and bring players in is truly an outstanding turnaround, and it has resulted in one of the most historic and well-respected teams in the country returning the division they deserve to be in.

Orient’s return to League Two is one of the many reasons we love football, a tale of a team destroyed by their owners and rising from the ashes to come back stronger than ever, and to hopefully be better than ever when the 2019/20 Football League season kicks off.

Leyton Orient fans, is promotion back to the Football League one of the stories of the season? Let us know!

Real concerned by prospect of Spurs Champions League win in Eriksen pursuit

[ad_pod ]

Real Madrid are concerned by the prospect of Tottenham Hotspur winning the Champions League as they attempt to sign Christian Eriksen this summer, per AS.

What’s the word?

The Denmark international has long been a target of the Spanish giants.

But AS report that the Spanish giants are worried that Spurs could beat Liverpool in the Champions League final, having qualified after an unforgettable victory over Ajax on Wednesday, and suddenly ramp up their asking price.

Madrid, AS claim, believe they will have to pay a maximum of €70million (£60.5m) to secure Eriksen’s signature, though Spurs have thus far demanded €100m (£86m).

But a victory over the Reds, Madrid believe, would complicate matters and, despite reaching a verbal agreement with the Denmark international over a transfer, the club are said to be worried about the prospect of Eriksen extending his current contract.

His deal expires in 2020 and if no extension is agreed, he will be available on a free transfer at the conclusion of the 2019-20 season.

Ambitions fulfilled

The best players want to win the biggest trophies.

There has long been a debate over whether Tottenham can reach the next level and keep their stars happy.

A win in the Champions League final, with Spurs crowned European champions, would do just that.

It remains to be seen if Eriksen, however, would view it as a swansong or a reason to stay.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will surely hope for the latter, particularly if Spurs want to go one step further and attempt to win the Premier League.

Team player: Leeds fans praise Kemar Roofe for unselfish attitude

[ad_pod ]

Leeds fans on Twitter have praised Kemar Roofe for his unselfish attitude after his comments in Wednesday’s press conference.

Roofe insisted that the accolade of being Leeds’ top scorer doesn’t mean anything to him and that the performance of the team is more important.

The striker was asked whether or not there was a rivalry emerging between him and Pablo Hernandez as they both compete at the top of Leeds’ scoring charts this season.

Roofe has netted 14 goals in the league so far whilst the Spaniard has found the back of the net 12 times.

The Englishman reckons he isn’t too fussed about outscoring Hernandez and that the team fulfilling their aspirations of being promoted to the top flight is more important.

Roofe has been out of the starting 11 recently due to Marcelo Bielsa’s preference to use Patrick Bamford  but during the press conference, the 26-year-old stated that he inevitably won’t be in the team as long as they keep winning.

Fans of the Yorkshire club have praised Roofe for his attitude towards his personal game, with many believing that it epitomises the club’s motto of “Side before self, every time”

Man United fans react as club wait on Pogba before making Tanguy Ndombele move

[ad_pod ]

According to L’Equipe, via Get French Football News, Manchester United aren’t ready to make a move for €100m-rated (£88m) Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele until Paul Pogba’s situation is clear, and Red Devils fans have been quick to react.

L’Equipe, via GFFN, report that United’s Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Serie A champions Juventus have made provisional contract offers for the highly-rated 22-year-old, with Lyon chairman Jean Michel Aulas valuing him at the same amount Pogba moved to Old Trafford for in 2016.

The report suggests that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’S men are going to wait and see if the France international stays or goes this summer before potentially pursuing their interest in the Ligue 1 midfielder.

The side that finished in sixth position in the English top flight this term look to be in need of some reinforcements in the centre of the park following Ander Herrera’s departure, Fred’s struggles and with Nemanja Matic seemingly in decline, and Ndombele would be the perfect solution to the issue.

Waiting on Pogba is clearly a source of much frustration for many United supporters on Twitter, who believe that they should be looking to have both in their starting XI.

One point separated City and Liverpool but twenty-five separated them from the rest! Fans discuss who could reduce the deficit next season in the video below?

While one said “if Pogba leaves, buy him, if Pogba stays, buy him”, another said “this is why we are a finished club”.
