Leeds fans react to Tom Pearce transfer speculation

[ad_pod ]

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Barnsley are interested in signing Leeds United defender Tom Pearce before this summer’s transfer window slams shut.

And the same report claims that Leeds would be open to allowing the 21-year-old to leave Elland Road ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

Pearce, who spent the second half of last term on loan at Scunthorpe United, signed a new four-year contract with the Whites last summer, but he has not been involved in the club’s preparations for the new season.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Barnsley have ‘a strong interest’ in the defender.

And it would be fair to say that the transfer report has not gone down very well with the Leeds fans on social media.

Check out what happened when Thogden mixed with some of Montenegro’s craziest ultras in the video below…

It has been a frustrating transfer window for the Championship outfit and many of the supporters see little sense in losing another first-team player.

West Brom target Krystian Bielik boasts tremendous dynamism

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s In Numbers series, which takes a statistical look at performances, season-long form and reported transfer targets…

In terms of new arrivals, West Brom’s summer has been extremely quiet.

Only Filip Krovinovic has walked through the doors of the Hawthorns as plenty of names have fled the nest.

Yet, another body who could be brought in to bolster their squad is Arsenal’s Krystian Bielik.

Recently, the Pole was the subject of a report from The Telegraph claiming that the Baggies were interested in bringing him to the Midlands.

However, it may not be a straightforward pursuit. After all, this is a player who shone in League One for Charlton last term before starring at the European U21 Championships.

It’ll come as no surprise to see that he’s in demand, therefore.

Also in the race for the versatile individual, per the report, are Derby, Brentford and Middlesbrough so a fierce battle could be about to commence.

The word is that Arsenal are wanting him to sign new terms, but if he fails to do that, they could be willing to let him leave permanently.

Bielik is someone who has never made the cut at Arsenal, being subjected to various loans away from the club including a spell with Birmingham in the past.

But what can the 21-year-old bring to the Baggies if he does indeed sign?

Last term he featured as a holding midfielder and as a centre back for Charlton and they were two roles he exceeded tremendously well in at the U21 Euros this summer.

In three games, he thrived for Poland, proving to be one of their best performers.

Despite being a defensive player, he netted twice and also completed two dribbles per game. Not only is he no-nonsense, completing 7.7 clearances every 90 minutes, but his ability to dribble demonstrates the wonderful technical ability and dynamism he has.

By definition, he truly is useful in more ways than one.

Against Belgium in Poland’s opening game, he completed three dribbles and won four aerial duels whilst playing in defence, as well as finding the net.

Watch fans explain why the Football League is better than the Premier League in the video below…

He then scored again versus Italy. Playing in the middle of the park, he made three tackles, completed nine clearances and also made two interceptions.

The sheer discipline of the youngster whilst continuing to prove a threat at the opposite end of the pitch was remarkable.

And if he continues to produce all-action performances like that he could well take to the Championship like a duck to water.

It’s now down to West Brom to win the race to sign him.

Tottenham see new bid for Bruno Fernandes rejected

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

Tottenham Hotspur have made a new bid worth €65m (£59.9m) for Sporting Lisbon attacking midfielder Bruno Fernandes, per The Daily Mail.

What’s the word?

Spurs, the report states, have had two bids for Fernandes rejected already, of values of €45m (£41.5m) and €50m (£46.1m).

Sporting have now rejected this bid too, with Spurs offering €55m (£50.7m) up front in addition to €10m (£9.2m) in add-ons.

Sporting value Fernandes at €70m (£64.6m), meaning that the north London club are currently £4.7m short of the required sum.

The Mail also claims that Spurs have yet to decide whether or not they should make another offer, with the Premier League’s transfer window closing on Thursday.

Eriksen’s replacement

Spurs have to buy an attacking midfielder before the transfer deadline.

There remains uncertainty over the future of Christian Eriksen, who has expressed a desire to take on a fresh challenge.

Links with Manchester United have come to nothing, per reports, but Eriksen is said to remain hopeful of sealing a move to Spain.

The Liga transfer window is open until the end of the month and Spurs cannot afford to be left short in the position if an exit is agreed for the Dane after the English window closes.

Thus, chairman Daniel Levy simply has to bring in reinforcements.

Sources have confirmed that the club are also interested in Real Betis’ Giovani Lo Celso and Juventus’ Paulo Dybala, but it seems as though they are an inch away from striking an agreement with Fernandes, who scored 32 goals in all competitions last season.

They should do all they can to get it over the line. £4.7m is not enough to miss the chance to land such a talented playmaker.

Tottenham fans fume over club’s reported transfer decision

[ad_pod ]

According to Sky Sports News, Tottenham Hotspur will not be signing a new right-back in this summer’s transfer window despite the sale of Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid.

And the Spurs fans have taken to social media to reveal their fury.

Indeed, the report claims that head coach Mauricio Pochettino will not be entering the market for a new right-back due to the presence of both Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters.

Walker-Peters has been the main right-back during pre-season as Aurier has not yet been involved following Ivory Coast’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.

Juan Foyth has also been used in that area of the field, meanwhile.

The Tottenham supporters, though, are furious at the thought of their team failing to sign a replacement for Trippier, who helped Atletico record a stunning 7-3 win over Real Madrid in the International Champions Cup on Friday night.

Manchester United: Inter really do want Romelu Lukaku

Inter Milan are to table their best offer possible in an attempt to secure Manchester United forward Romelu Lukaku.

News emerged at the weekend that both clubs were prepared to sit down and discuss ‘face-to-face’ the possibility of Romelu Lukaku completing his Old Trafford exit, as per Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport.

It is said that the objective of the meeting is ‘closure’ – presumably to ensure what could be a lengthy and arduous process comes to an end as soon as possible thus allowing the two sides to prepare for their respective campaigns properly.

Gazzetta dello Sport go on to suggest that, within the week, Inter Milan and Beppe Marotta will ‘blitz’ the market and present Manchester United with an offer they hope will convince the Reds to release Lukaku.

The Belgian forward said that a move to Serie A would be a dream to Sky Italia back in April and did appear to lose his starting spot under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer towards the end of last season, with Marcus Rashford largely operating as the central striker.

Harbouring players who have no desire to stay at the club would be a poor move on United’s part. Even if it means lowering their reported £75million asking price so Inter Milan have the means to pay.

Rumours have already surfaced that Solskjaer is chasing Sevilla’s Wissam Ben Yedder, who scored 18 goals in 31 La Liga appearances last season, with Spanish outlet La Colina de Nervion going as far to say that the club have already agreed personal terms on the switch.

Manchester United fans, do you agree Lukaku should be sold? Let us know in the comments below…

Rangers fans are keen on seeing Kemar Roofe arrive as potential Alfredo Morelos replacement

[ad_pod ]

Rangers fans are interested in the idea of replacing Alfredo Morelos with Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe this summer.

The Scottish Sun reported on Sunday that Roofe is top of the Ibrox club’s list of potential replacements for the Colombian, who they say is edging closer to a £10m exit.

Any deal for Roofe could cost as much as £5m, despite the player having less than a year on his current £10,000-a-week contract at Elland Road.

Check out the below above to see football played as you’ve never seen it before… in a maze!

Roofe finished the 2018/19 season as Leeds’ top scorer, netting 15 goals as they narrowly missed out on promotion to the English Premier League.

Morelos had an interesting season in the Scottish top-flight, scoring 30 goals but also receiving a massive five red cards and 17 yellow cards, with his discipline potentially costing the club at critical points in their quest for trophies.

The Leeds man may struggle to replace that kind of attacking output, but could he prove to be a more reliable presence in Rangers’ first-team?

Gers supporters certainly seem keen on the switch, with many taking to Twitter over the last 48 hours to share their thoughts…

Leeds fans concerned with their defence after Phil Hay update

[ad_pod ]

A host of Leeds fans have responded negatively to a transfer claim made by Phil Hay on Twitter.

The journalist took to the social media channel to respond to questions from certain segments of the fanbase, and he laid hints that Leeds were done in the window when it came to defenders.

Leeds’ defending against Manchester United in their first pre-season friendly of their tour of Australia left a lot to be desired as they lost 4-0, whilst their only new arrival in that area of the pitch has been Ben White.

With Pontus Jansson also leaving, this update has left many fuming with the club for the direction they’ve taken.

One fan suggested that they should now wave goodbye to promotion as a result, whilst a further supporter was so gobsmacked all they could reply with was the word ‘wow’.

Another individual said it was mental considering the lack of depth in defence as one fan was concerned that White wouldn’t have a good enough partner.

Director of Football Victor Orta already claimed this week that he thinks Leeds are 90% done in terms of the plan they had this summer.

Crystal Palace ace Wilfried Zaha and Everton boss Marco Silva together on the pitch

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Opinion series, which provides analysis, insight and opinion on any issue within the beautiful game, from Paul Pogba’s haircuts to League Two relegation battles…

Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha came on as a second-half substitute in his side’s opening day goalless draw against Everton at Selhurst Park on Saturday, the team he reportedly wanted to join just a few days earlier.

The Toffees were heavily linked with a move for the Ivory Coast international in the period leading up to the deadline on Thursday and it became something of a saga, with a significant cash-plus-players bid rejected on Wednesday according to Sky Sports.

The Independent had previously eported that the 26-year-old expected to seal a move to Goodison Park before the window slammed shut, but it never came to fruition with The Sun saying that he reluctantly agreed to remain with the Eagles.

[ad_pod ]

He had to settle for a spot on the substitutes’ bench against the Merseyside outfit, before replacing Jordan Ayew in the 65th minute.

However, he wasn’t able to help the hosts find a breakthrough even after Morgan Schneiderlin was sent off for the visitors, with the spoils shared.

As happens after all matches, the opposition players and managers shake hands or acknowledge each other, and it was no different as Zaha and Marco Silva were photographed together on the pitch following the full-time whistle.

Of course after what has happened in recent days this particular interaction had more focus on it than it usually would, although neither gave too much away as you can see.

It remains to be seen whether Everton will renew their interest in the forward in January.

Everton should target Franck Kessie instead of Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s In Numbers series, which takes a statistical look at performances, season-long form and reported transfer targets…

According to Calciomercato, Everton are interested in signing AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie, whilst Tottenham and Arsenal are also keeping tabs on him.

The Ivory Coast international has had a disrupted summer after competing at the Africa Cup of Nations with his country, where he helped the Elephants make the quarter-finals.

[ad_pod ]

It seems evident that Toffees boss Marco Silva is keen to sign another midfielder due to the interest in Kessie, along with the Merseysiders’ pursuit of another option for the middle of the park in Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Everton have already had two bids rebuffed for the Frenchman’s services, the second of which was worth £36.7m after an opening offer of £30m was rejected.

One would assume that it is unlikely Everton will sign both seeing as they have already added Fabian Delph, Andre Gomes and Jean-Philippe Gbamin to the squad, so let’s take a look at who would be a better fit for the Toffees.

As you can see, the AC Milan No.79 had a much better season than Doucoure did last term.

Kessie scored more goals than Doucoure with seven to his name compared to the Watford No.16’s five, whilst he also completed more dribbles per game, and executed more successful key passes per game.

Aside from on-field performances, there are other reasons as to why Kessie would be a better signing for Everton than Doucoure.

The former Atalanta man is four years younger than the Hornets midfielder, who is 26 years of age.

Additionally, Watford have already rejected a £36.7m (€40m) bid from Everton, whereas that exact figure is what Milan are reportedly looking for from those interested in signing their Ivorian powerhouse.

Thogden challenged himself to DM 100 footballers on Instagram. Find out who replied in the video below…

Watford are said to be ‘adamant’ that Doucoure is going nowhere, so Everton’s continued pursuit of him seems hopeful and might be a waste of time on the Toffees’ part.

It seems like an even bigger waste of time when there is a younger, cheaper option out there who actually enjoyed a better season than Doucoure in 2018/19 – Everton should definitely turn their attentions to Kessie.
